freecache seems to be giving users a much much faster response than using http or ftp directly. currently we are at a 70% hit rate (so 70% of the time it is in a cache). We are leveraging about 20megabits/sec of bandwidth, and we would like that to be over 100megabits/sec by the end of next week.

So:
* Please use the freecache button when you are using the archive.
* If you are on a high bandwidth site (like a university), and would like to help out, please write to ralf muehlen@archive.org to walk through setup.

Wow, I just pulled David Zollo 3/28/03 at a whopping 239k. It took just a hair over 10 minutes to pull the entirety of this 172meg show. I can't remember the last time I saw that out of my cable modem.

Can't remember the last time I pulled a show off the archive faster than I've uploaded one to it. (my upload cap is at 45k). Good stuff! Thanks to whoever is responsible for FreeCache!
